Mr. Imani started his professional career at pre-IPO KLA Instrument. After KLA corporation went public {NYSE:KLAC}, Mr. Imani moved down to The University of Arizona in Tucson Arizona where he received his Ph.D. in electro-optical instruments in 1985. Amongst his research projects, He was a fabrication engineer at the Optics Shop responsible for polishing and testing of circular Mirrors (5 Ton in weight and 2.7 meter in diameter) installed in Hubble telescope. He also designed and implemented Linear Voltage Differential Transducers (LVDT) for monitoring the thickness fluctuations of materials.
After completing his Ph.D., Dr. Imani joined a start up manufacturer of semiconductor test equipment company called Photon Dynamics {NASDAQ: PHTN} as employee number 5. After Photon Dynamics, Dr. Imani was hired by Start Signal Inc., a manufacturer of videophone systems, as the company's Chief Scientific Officer. After Start Signal, Dr. Imani joined Nanometrics, a manufacturer of thin film thickness measurement systems on semiconductor and glass materials. In 1989 Dr. Imani co-founded a glass company in San Jose California. The company became the largest Glass Company in the South Bay in three years. In Sept 1990, Dr. Imani founded Transoptics, Inc http://www.transoptic.com/ a semiconductor inspection company for the measurement of thickness and optical properties of dielectric and metallic films.
In 1995, Dr. Imani started Auto Glass Experts, Inc., an auto glass service company, with commitment to safety and quality of auto glass for car and drivers in the state of Colorado. In 2002 The Company expanded its operation and is now doing business as http://www.autoglassexperts.com/ and is servicing some 10,000-customers on an annual basis.
In Oct 1997, Dr. Imani Founded, and was CEO and Chairman of, XLOptics (Nouroptics), a manufacturer of passive and active optical components for 10 and 40 Gigabits per second telecom markets. The company implemented and manufactured optical chromatic dispersion correctors, dispersion-slope correctors and 40 gig DWDM filters on glass substrates, and raised $9MM to acquire Los Angeles based Transpectrum Technologies, a leading manufacturer of 40 Gigabits per second CMOS transceiver and transponder components.
In 2002, Dr. Imani Founded CopperTech a manufacturer of metallic film thickness measurements using Plasmon Waves.
These days Dr. Imani is working on a spherical glass monitoring system combined with fiber optic networks for detecting biological, bacterial, infectious, and contaminating materials at molecular levels in public places such as airports, and sports arena's. The safety of general public is at the top of Dr. Imani's priorities and his project helps detecting hazardous agents and then alarms the general public about the existence of hazardous materials in the vicinity of public.
Dr. Imani is author of many patents and provisional patents in the area of optical components s and semiconductor systems. He is especially proud of his patent on plasmon waves as they apply to nano technology, and high speed optical interconnect inside semiconductor chips.
